The Raptor Experience
1½hr (Now all year)
In this experience, you get to fly a variety of raptors, generally at least three different species from hawks, barn owls, long-eared owls, tawny owls, or a falcon.
All these birds are free-flying, in their natural environment over meadows and farmland so that you can observe their natural behaviour.
Bay Winged Hawk
The bay winged hawk, a very clever raptor! Think Jurassic World. This bird hunts in packs; be prepared to become part of the pack.
Long-Eared Owl
Then the elusive long-eared owl, with the most fantastic camouflage, a stronger wingbeat than the barn owl, and the ability to fly in more challenging conditions. Their eyes are orange, and their faces can change shape.
Barn Owl
The ghostly barn owl, with its heart-shaped face, whisper-quiet wings, and a scream that echoes through the night. It hunts with pinpoint hearing, even in total darkness, and glides low over fields in search of prey.
Tawny Owl
The tawny owl is the one we think of making the classic "twit-twoo" sounds, but how often do you get to see them? Well, get ready to get close to this dark-eyed lovely and fall in love with this wonderful owl.
Gyrfalcon
The largest falcon in the world. A transient visitor to Britain. Once upon a time Gyrfalcons's were for Emperoros and Kings.
Lanner Falcon
The Lanner Falcon is a sleek, agile hunter known for its speed and strategic hunting. At Cornwall Falconry, witness its aerial mastery up close.
This is Makeda our 18yr old Lanner Falcon. She has been with us all her life and is now enjoying a slower life on the farm.
The Winter Hawk Walk
1hr (2024/5 Season)
Firstly, a brief safety talk on what to expect and how we call a hawk back to the glove.
Then it's gloves on as we begin our experience with one of these super-intelligent raptors, which actually hunt in packs, so be prepared to become part of the pack!
With a small titbit and a raised glove the hawk will soar to you.
You will have plenty of photo opportunities as we will be able to observe these magnificent birds of prey in their natural environment, and we will explain what they are doing and why they are doing it.
You will be amazed by their superpowers!
